CONNECTIONAL YPD VOTER REGISTRATION CAMPAIGN 2008
Every generation experiences a monumental moment that will forever define its era. Our historical marker was set a little more than 7 years ago on September 11, 2001 . Although many of us have adjusted to the numerous changes and a new pace of life, we are still very much in the midst of precarious time. Our generation is known for verbalizing an abundance of opinions, yet our actions are few.
What good, then, are our words if they lack substance?
The 2008 Presidential elections are upon us. Now, more than ever, our response at this time can, and will, make a difference. Our generation as been empowered- the decisions we make today, will undoubtedly impact our future.
How do we turn our words into actions?
Over the next three weeks, I strongly encourage the YPD in each church to push for everyone within our congregations to TURN OUR WORDS INTO ACTION. By following a few simple guidelines, we CAN and WILL make a difference.
1. Make everyone aware of this campaign. Include information in your church bulletin. Make sure the campaign is mentioned at every church meeting and/or event. Create a banner on your churchs website, etc.
2. Create a central, yet simple, set-up in your church. Have forms are readily available. Encourage members to register. For more emphasis, depending on the size of your church, ALSO have forms at every gathering held during the week. The more people see forms, the more likely they are to respond.
3. Collect the registration forms and MAIL THEM IN!!!!
Be mindful: the deadline for submitting these forms vary state to state!!
I have included a link that allows access to a national voter registration form. I would suggest printing ONE copy of the official document which includes pertinent information as far as submitting forms to your local authorities. Additional copies of the single page application should be made for distribution in your church.
